Minecraft gets Sonic the Hedgehog DLC

Sonic the Hedgehog is racing into Minecraft in a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog DLC, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of one of the most iconic gaming characters of all time.

SEGA's popular character Sonic the Hedgehog is now available in Minecraft via Minecraft Marketplace. Xbox announced a brand new, fast-paced DLC, to celebrate the thirty years of Sonic. It features everything that you may expect from Sonic-themed Minecraft content, including iconic locations, familiar foes, and the blockiest rings you’ll ever see.

Here is the official description of the new DLC:

"Sonic the Hedgehog races into Minecraft at supersonic speeds! Sprint, roll, and spring off enemies through iconic zones, with infinite gameplay. Master the thrilling abilities of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and more! Compete with friends for high scores. Unlock achievements, characters, new zones, and a challenging Eggman Mode! Includes 24 popular skins."

So there you have it, folks, it's not the biggest content update ever for Minecraft but it's still pretty cool stuff that Minecraft players should certainly appreciate. 

We wonder if Microsoft and Sega have more of these in the pipeline or if this is a hint at some bigger announcements in the foreseeable future?
