Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has had a weird development thus far with Paradox deciding to give it to Hardsuit Labs which many thought is not a good idea.
Eventually, this turned out to be true and the studio was dropped but there was no official announcement who would be at the wheel afterwards.
The only hint was a tour of The Chinese Room studio, with one screen in the background showing a main menu that looked suspiciously similar to that of Bloodlines 2. As it turns out, whoever spotted it was correct.
On September 2, 2023, Paradox Interactive announced that The Chinese Room will be and, in fact, have been handling development for a while now.
Bloodlines 2 has already received a new trailer with the announcement while a gameplay trailer is scheduled for January 2024 with the game's own release being at some point during autumn 2024.
This leaves around one year between the announcement and the release date, provided it doesn't get pushed back or cancelled.
The new dev studio is definitely more fitting than Hardsuit Labs was as they do have experience in narrative-driven games instead of FPS titles which should be a good indicator but since Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines games have cursed developments, we will reserve proper optimism for later.
Additionally, the trailer music is pretty catch but you are unlikely to find it anywhere since it seems to be made especially for the game. Let's hope we get a full version some day.
