Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has revealed GTA 6 is not yet content complete, with Rockstar still finalizing missions and uncertain whether the game will hit its November 2026 release date, raising the possibility of another delay.

GTA 6 remains unfinished with Rockstar uncertain about meeting its November 2026 release date, according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier. The veteran games journalist shared development details suggesting the highly anticipated sequel could face another delay despite being the closest it's ever been to launch.

Schreier stated the game was not content-complete the last he heard, with developers still finalising missions, adding content, and deciding what makes it into the final version.

The comments cast doubt on Rockstar's ability to hit the November target, though Schreier noted this release window "feels a little bit more real" than previous estimates of autumn 2025 or May 2026. However, with mission design still ongoing, it's safe to assume that Rockstar and their support studios are not in the critical bug-fixing phase, which is raising concerns about the game's release date.

The stakes couldn't be higher for Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company. Schreier emphasised that "the entire stock of Take-Two lives or dies on this game," with the publisher's market value heavily dependent on GTA 6's success. This pressure paradoxically makes delays more likely, as Take-Two would rather postpone the release than launch a compromised product that could damage the franchise's reputation.

Rockstar has demonstrated willingness to delay before, having already pushed GTA 6 from its originally rumoured 2024-2025 timeframe to November 2026. The company famously delayed Red Dead Redemption 2 multiple times to ensure quality, and Schreier suggested GTA 6 would receive similar treatment. "Rockstar can't settle for anything less than perfection," he noted.

Take-Two's fiscal year ends in late March 2027, providing a buffer if the publisher wants to maintain a same-fiscal-year release whilst allowing additional development time. A delay into early 2027 would still meet internal financial targets whilst giving Rockstar crucial extra months for polish.

GTA 6 is currently scheduled for November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If the game does slip, it would mark the third major delay for a title originally expected years earlier, extending the 13-year gap since GTA 5's 2013 release even further.
