Microsoft's acquisition of Sega is a no-go, at least for now, according to Sega's chief operating officer, Shuji Utsumi, but the relationship between the two companies remains fantastic.

Without a doubt, one of Microsoft's attempts is to conquer the console market by all means possible; thus, we are witnessing many trials and tribulations surrounding one of the largest acquisitions in the history of the gaming business, Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

But because the takeover isn't going as well as Microsoft had intended, one of the world's top software companies has chosen to make other deals until the details of the huge acquisition are ironed out. So the word got out that Microsoft plans to buy Sega, one of the oldest companies in the video gaming industry.

Following the disclosure of this information, Sega's chief operating officer (COO), Shuji Utsumi, was questioned about the potential of being acquired by Microsoft. His answer was succinct and direct: "No, not now!"

Utsumi also added that Sega's relationship with the American software behemoth is unquestionable and that he has great regard for Microsoft. He said, “We are very close with Microsoft and have a great relationship with its management team." “Microsoft particularly has a high regard for us. Xbox’s Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond are really serious about values that video game fans emphasise."

As Sega works on major projects linked to its most well-known brand, Sonic the Hedgehog, including the two major video games Sonic Frontiers and Sonic Superstars, Utsumi added that it is by no means a favourable moment to discuss such subjects.
