According to numerous speculations on social media, other titles that could be in the works for the Switch 2 include Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Diablo 4, Starfield and even a Call of Duty title. If true, these games would represent a significant collaboration between Microsoft-owned studios - including Bethesda and Activision Blizzard; and Nintendo.
What can further feed your anticipation is that, reportedly, Bandai Namco is said to be working on both Elden Ring and Tekken 8 for the newer hardware.
Of course, it means they would finally have a reason to utilize some speculated AI-powered upscaled tech within a Switch 2, just as with Nvidia's DLSS, in an effort to pull through higher resolutions at improved graphics settings.
In a brief reveal video recently, Nintendo let loose some teasers about the most awaited Switch 2, signalling a larger display, an elite kickstand enhancement and completely new magnetic attachments that will offer support for JoyCons.
This console is backwards compatible with native Switch games only, both as physical and as digital formats of play.
Other potential titles that could join Microsoft's reported contributions on the Switch 2 include Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Mirage and Assassin's Creed Shadows.
Analysts speculate the console will come in at around $400, placing it directly in competition with other handheld gaming systems.
While early sales are likely to be robust, analysts say it may take time to match the success of the original Switch with increased competition in the handheld market.
With anticipation growing, fans of Nintendo await other announcements that will reveal hardware and a long list of games.
