Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of the Metro novels, has confirmed that even if there won't be more books, Artyom's story will continue through other media and games. Glukhovsky also said that he works on a story for Metro Exodus sequel.
Earlier this week, we got a confirmation that Metro series developer 4A Games have started working on a brand new Metro instalment. This has been confirmed by THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingefors in the company's latest investors call .
Unfortunately, that was everything that Wingefors had to say about the next Metro game. He didn't mention if the game is in full development or when exactly players can expect more information or a proper reveal.
However, in the latest post on his Instagram, Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of Metro novels, also confirmed that the work on a new Metro game is currently ongoing. Glukhovsky shared Metro Exodus artwork with "to be confirmed" subtitle.
Furthermore, he also wrote that Metro is indeed continuing and that he will write the story for the new game. "The Metro gaming series will be continued. Working on the story," Glukhovsky confirmed on his Instagram.
In 2016, after the release of Metro 2035, Glukhovsky hinted that the Metro novels are probably over but that doesn't necessarily mean that the games won't continue. "I think the main questions [about Artyom] are answered in Metro 2035, and even if there won't be any other Metro books, this doesn't necessarily mean that Artyom's story can't continue in other media," Glukhovsky expained.
Of course, Metro games expanded the Metro universe with new locations and stories that never appeared in the books, which suggests that 4A Games and Glukhovsky still have a lot of material for the next project. Hopefully, we get more details about the game soon.
If you play Metro Exodus at the moment, you'll be happy to hear that 4A Games plan to release several DLCs for the game in 2019 and in early 2020. More on that here .
