Developer Bungie has revealed details on a forthcoming update to Marathon that will extend the Season 1 Rewards Pass with new cosmetics. These new rewards include a variety of new Runner Shell variants for both the premium and free passes, as well as some other goodies.
It's another effort by Bungie to address community concerns about Marathon's progression and rewards structure. That said, players will have to wait until mid-April when the seasonal update goes live for it to drop.
New Rewards Coming to the Season 1 Pass
This update introduces new cosmetics to the existing Rewards Pass.
Premium track additions:
- Thief Runner Shell Style
- Assassin Runner Shell Style
- Destroyer Runner Shell Style
Free track additions:
- Recon Runner Shell Style
- WSTR Shotgun Style
- Profile Emblem
Arachne Shell Styles Also Coming
One other change coming is letting players of the Disciples of Arachne faction earn cosmetic shell styles via the game’s Codex reward system.Take for example the Arachne Shell style for the Triage Runner above.
As you can see, it’s got a brighter color palette compared to many other cosmetic shells. Brighter shells have the benefit of being more visible which can be key in Marathon as maps are often large enough where spotting enemies can be tough.
LUX Bundle Changes
In another small quality of life change, Bungie increased the reward for the game’s $9.99 LUX bundle.Players will now receive 1,120 LUX for purchasing a LUX bundle, up from 1,100 previously.
Players who had already purchased the bundle before the change were sent an automatic 20 LUX credit for each bundle they had already bought.
More Updates Planned for Future Seasons
While these updates are only for Season 1, we can expect Bungie to continue to make adjustments to Marathon’s reward systems in future seasons. The developer has stated that they will be tuning the Rewards Pass and other progression rewards as time goes on based on player feedback.
