League of Legends World Championship 2019 Play-In stage has concluded with Hong Kong Attitude, Splyce, Clutch Gaming and Damwon Gaming being distributed to the previously 75 per cent completed groups.
Group A:
- G2 Esports
- Griffin
- Cloud 9
- Hong Kong Attitude
Hong Kong Attitude qualified to Group A, following a fairly dominant performance in their matchup with Isurus Gaming as they won with a final score of 3-1. They will, however, face a much rougher competition in the Main Event, as they landed in a group with G2 Esports, Griffin and Cloud 9. While not impossible, it is hard to see them making it out of Group Stage.
Group B:
- FunPlus Phoenix
- J Team
- GAM Esports
- Splyce
Splyce saw an opposite outcome. They barely made it out of the five game long playoff matchup with Unicorns of Love but should have an easier time in groups. FunPlus Phoenix are still the favourites for going #1 in Group B. Meanwhile, J Team and GAM Esports should prove to be strong opponents for Europe's third seed but not obstacles that can't be crossed.
Group C:
- SKT T1
- Fnatic
- Royal Never Give Up
- Clutch Gaming
Clutch Gaming arguably drew the best possible matchup in Play-In knockout stage against Royal Youth, which they dispatched with a clean sweep. Group stage will definitely prove to be a rough experience for them as Group C was branded the group of death even before they qualified.
Group D:
- Team Liquid
- ahq e-Sports Club
- Invictus Gaming
- Damwon Gaming
Damwon Gaming just stomped everything during the Play-In stage. Lowkey Esports won everyone's hearts for their heroic, but ultimately futile stand against Korea's third seed. The real challenge for DWG starts with Group D, however, where they will face the defending world champions, Invictus Gaming, and North America's strongest squad, Team Liquid, in the bid for a spot in the playoffs.
