There are broken League of Legends items that Riot Games try to nerf, such as Divine Sunderer, and then there are those that they seem to have given up on, due to their design.
One such item is Zhonya's hourglass, which is being changed on the Public Beta environment servers, currently, and is getting buffed for all intents and purposes.
- Stopwatch
- Cost increased from 650 to 750
- Zhonya's Hourglass
- Cost increased from 2700 to 3000
- AP increased from 65 to 80
- Ability haste increased from 10 to 15
- Seeker's Armguard
- AP increased from 20 to 30
- Number of stacks reduced from 30 to 20
Zhonya's Hourglass is an item that is made to stop burst damage, from enemy assassins on low mobility targets which are usually mages. However, it does its job too well, by giving AP, armor and an active stasis effect.
There is no equivalent AD item in League of Legends, comparable to Zhonya's Hourglass. The current changes may seem like they are balancing each other out, by lowering its usefulness in the mid-game, and increasing it in the late game, but that is not the case.
The item is getting 460 gold worth of stats overall with these buffs, while Riot are only increasing its price by 300 gold, on an item that is already problematic in and of itself. Is this what Riot want Worlds to look like, Zhonya's baits aplenty?
