Riot Games announced some massive nerfs on the mid-lane assassin Zed in League of Legends patch 12.23B. The patch goes live today. Zed will be impacted by the Ravenous Hydra nerfs as well.
Zed stands for one of the strongest assassins in the game thanks to the Ravenous Hydra. It's a bruiser item that provides Omnivamp to the champion. Riot also included a new unique passive, Carnivorous, with the new League of Legends preseason changes.
When champion kills a minion, they receive 0.6 AD and 0.1% omnivamp, and the AD and omnivamp were increased when the champion killed a huge monster or a champion. Ravenous Hydra was transformed into a snowball item by this adjustment.
Many champions worked well along with Ravenous Hydra. Zed is one of them. Zed was remained quite dominant in meta despite the nerf to Ravenous Hydra. The Ravenous Hydra nerfs hardly affect his victory rate, which is at 52.39%. Furthermore, his pick rate rose to 14.4%. Likewise, his ban rate increased to 55.5%.
Here are all the Zed changes in the League of Legends patch 12.23B:
Q - Razor Shuriken
- Damage reduced from 80 - 220 to 70 - 210
E - Shadow Slash
- Damage reduced from 70 - 150 to 65 - 145
- Cooldown increased from 5 - 3 seconds to 5 - 4
This is a heavy nerf towards Zed because items like Ravenous Hydra and Jak'sho are also getting nerfed.
Riot Phroxzon, the League balancing team's main designer, indicated that Patch 12.23b will be released today, December 14, to make up for the considerable gap between the year's last complete patch and the start of the 2023 season.
Without diving into specifics, Riot Phroxzon stated that several champions are receiving the "Riot special" - likely significant changes - and among those champions will be Zed - the Master of Shadows.
