With the League of Legends 2024 World Championship coming to a close, Riot Games has officially announced that the 2025 Worlds tournament will take place in China.
The League of Legends World Championship is one of the most anticipated events on the global esports calendar that pits the very best players and teams against each other for the ultimate title.
This year, Worlds 2024 has been taking place across multi-city Europe, from the Play-ins and Swiss stages in Berlin, the quarter finals and semi-finals running in Paris, to London set for the grand finals. So far, the semis will pit Weibo Gaming against Bilibili Gaming (BLG won), and it will be T1 pitted against Gen.G in a really aggressive match-up-one fans wouldn't want to miss.
Looking ahead to 2025, the selection of China as the next host is especially exciting. It will be the third time for China to host after the previous two times in 2017 and 2020.
China is also known for their competitive League teams, standing definitely in the top contenders in the world, right behind Korea. In fact, the LPL, or regional league of China, has reared fierce competitors such as Weibo Gaming, who currently is showing great promise at Worlds 2024.
With Worlds 2025 slated to return to one of the most competitive regions League of Legends has seen, this year's tournament will surely bring much more thrilling gameplay.
For now, with more details still to be released, it would seem that fans are in for yet another memorable chapter in League's esports history in China.
