Riot Games persists with its Seasonal Thematic system throughout 2025 while League of Legends evolves. As the game enters Season 2 the theme will transition from Noxus to Spirit Blossom which fans love for its combination of mystical skin lines and deep lore inspiration.
The upcoming season will see Riot Games implement a comprehensive redesign of Summoner’s Rift throughout their Spirit Blossom-themed visual and gameplay changes.
Summoner’s Rift Gets a Spirit Blossom Overhaul
The game will transition to the Spirit Blossom map of Summoner’s Rift with Patch 25.09 which launches on April 30, 2025, replacing the existing Noxian version.
The new map redesign offers an entirely different visual experience with ethereal colors and serene landscapes along with updated core objectives.
Key updates include:
- Turrets, Inhibitors and the Nexus receive new visual designs that incorporate Spirit Blossom aesthetics.
- The map presents a peaceful environment infused with natural elements that draws from Ionia's history and the Spirit Realm's essence.
- Objective redesigns to reflect the seasonal theme.
Atakhan and Void Grubs Receive Major Adjustments
Riot is working on multiple objectives to align them with the Spirit Blossom theme:
- Players will encounter Atakhan exclusively as Thornbound Atakhan from now on.
- All remaining Bloody Roses on the map will drop when Thornbound Atakhan gets defeated.
- Petals receive a transformation into Spirit Petals which endow users with a 25% heightened effect.
- The Spiritual Purification buff makes teams gain AoE slow and damage during takedowns but also provides Spirit Petals to teammates.
- Players will encounter only a single spawn of Void Grubs per game with a maximum total of three.
- Void Mite spawns are capped at one.
- Rift Herald will now appear at 15 minutes to regulate the game's pace before Baron Nashor becomes available.
A New Season Begins April 30
The magnitude of Riot’s transformative approach to League of Legends showcases their bold strategy to update the game with seasonal themes.
The combination of new champions including Yunara with thematic map designs and special buffs will make Season 2 of 2025 both visually stunning and strategically innovative.
