The usual jokes aside, with the banter between EUW and NA about NA never winning any World Championships, the recent statistics show an alarming trend for NA.

The League Championship Series, aka the LCS, is the top level of professional League of Legends in the United States and Canada. The esports league is run by Riot Game s and has ten franchise teams.

And to say that it's suffering from a lack of viewership is an understatement , with numbers growing more concerning by the day.

On November 8, 2022, Riot announced the North American Challengers League, which is going to be a tournament taking place throughout the year.

The League will have sixteen competing teams, ten of which will be former Academy teams, now known as the fixed teams of the League.

The remaining 6 slots will be given to Amateur teams, who will have to play a promotional tournament to qualify and if they're amongst the bottom four teams, they will have to play a promotional tournament against the top four teams of the NACL qualifiers to stay in the league.

The NACL, the name of the league and not a chemical compound for salt, will have two splits. It will also be organized in the double elimination style, where the winners will be crowned at the end, and will serve as the next young talents of NA.
