Following the split with EA Sports and their football title, the world governing football body FIFA have teamed up with the Japanese publisher Konami and their football simulation eFootball to continue "their worldwide commitment to the advancement of esports".
The collaboration will bring two FIFAe World Cups featuring eFootball later this year on both mobile and consoles. This will allow players to represent their nations through dedicated competitions.
It may not be what everyone wanted and that's the official FIFA licencing deal for eFootball, which would certainly do wonders for Konami's title but it's still a very interesting collab that may become something bigger in the coming years. Who knows.
The FIFAe World Cup qualifying will kick off on Thursday, October 10 with two competitions being held - one on console and the mobile - with each having a crowned champion.
