Warhorse Studios has had quite a week. The Czech developer today shadow-dropped a free next-gen upgrade for the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, whilst simultaneously announcing Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has sold 5 million copies in just 12 months.
Next-Gen Update Now Live
The next-gen update, developed in collaboration with Saber Interactive, is available now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Existing PS4 and Xbox One owners receive the upgrade for free, bringing 60FPS performance, enhanced visual fidelity, and improved graphical features to Henry's original saga. The update is also available for Game Pass subscribers immediately.
For players who never experienced the original, this represents arguably the best time to start before diving into the sequel. But be warned, it's even more hardcore than the sequel.
KCD 2 sells five million copies
The sales milestone for KCD2 is remarkable for a historically grounded RPG without mainstream fantasy trappings. Five million copies in a year demonstrates the series has grown from cult favourite into genuine mainstream success, which comes as a surprise, given the game's medieval sim nature.
"I'm incredibly proud to see Kingdom Come: Deliverance II reach this monumental milestone," said Warhorse CEO Martin Frývaldský. "Thank you for being part of this journey and making this a reality."
For collectors, a physical Kingdom Come: Deliverance Royal Edition arrives May 15, 2026. The digital Saga Bundle combines Royal Editions of both games for €99.99, offering the complete Henry experience for new players.
Warhorse is also rewarding long-time fans with personalised infographics as part of the anniversary celebrations, with a dedicated anniversary livestream available on their Twitch channel.
