New World Interactive announced they are hosting a free weekend event for Insurgency: Sandstorm that is accompanied by a sale and it's coming just in time with the latest update.

Insurgency: Sandstorm received Operation: Cold Blood 1.9.1 launched on February 4, 2021, and it was a substantial update as it introduced new weapons but also had quite an impact by removing the ranked queue. However, the newcomers will probably not shed any tears at its removal since they never experienced it in the first place.

And considering there is a free weekend running right now, there will probably be many newcomers. The promotion will last until February 8, 2021, and you can experience the entire game at no cost.

Keep in mind that it's a fairly chunky download, standing at 37.76GB so it might be a good idea to leave the game download running while you're out at work or doing weekend-ish things.

In case you're wondering if your rig can run Insurgency: Sandstorm, chances are that it can since even the recommended settings are requiring hardware that has been surpassed by two or in some cases even three newer generations so far.

In order to get a shot at Insurgency: Sandstorm, you can go to the store page and simply download the game there.

You will still need the Steam client to run it, but then again, pretty much everyone gaming on PC already has it.
