Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World say they had zero contacts in Microsoft so they had to do what everyone else would do in such situation - Google it!

Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World reveal a very interesting story about their first contact with Microsoft and Phil Spencer.

Over the last 24 hours, we got a bunch of new Stalker 2 footage and exclusive details thanks to the final previews and interviews from select press members. In one of the interviews, GSC Game World have revealed a very interesting and amusing story on how they got in touch with Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer and the Xbox team to bring Stalker 2 to the console.

They explained that they had no contacts inside Microsoft so they basically started Googling for emails until they discovered an email of Phil Spencer on a random Reddit thread. Imagine that.

"We actually started with zero contacts inside Microsoft," GSC revealed. "We started searching Google for an email for Phil Spencer, and we ended up finding it on some Reddit thread."

Additionally, GSC also provided some details on the email exchange between Spencer and themselves. Basically, it was a very straightforward email in which they expressed their interest in bringing Stalker 2 to players on Xbox.

Luckily for GSC Game World, Phil Spencer's response was instant and the dev team quickly got in touch with the correct team at Xbox.

"It was an email that was essentially 'We are GSC Game World, we're interested in bringing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. to console players.'"

"We got a near-instant response and a connection to the correct team. We've been working until now with the Xbox team, we love them, we think they are very effective and very empathetic."

It's quite the story. Who would've thought that you could find Phil Spencer's email on the internet and just like that pitch a console version of one of the most beloved survival games ever.

Stalker 2's development itself is quite the tale and it's an incredible achievement from the dev team that this big, ambitious project is finally seeing the light of the day after all the struggles with Covid and a full-blown invasion. Hats off, GSC Game World.
