During the Xbox Partner Preview showcase, GSC Game World announced that the Stalker trilogy is coming to the consoles for the first time ever. And while this is certainly big news for all Stalker fans, some have been left disappointed by the lack of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl news.
However, GSC Game World explained that their highly anticipated post-apocalyptic survival shooter will get a proper showcase later this year, more specifically, sometime this summer.
"While we’re not sharing new video or info on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl today, we want to let our fans know that you can expect a prominent showcase of the game in Summer 2024. More details to follow," GSC Game World stated in the official press release.
The dev team did not share specific details but as you can see from the update, more details will follow soon. If we had to guess, we would say that Stalker 2 will probably be shown at the Xbox Games Showcase in June.
The game is still console exclusive to Xbox Series X|S and it regularly showed up on Microsoft's big events so we expect to see it again at the summer show, unless, the devs plan a lengthy deep dive that doesn't fit the showcase format.
In that case, a standalone livestream would probably be a much better choice, allowing the team to talk in detail about the mechanics, world and everything else that makes Stalker 2 great.
Stalker 2 is set to launch on September 5, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG and Microsoft Store. The game is also launching day one on Xbox Game Pass for PC and console.
In case you are not familiar with the game, Stalker 2 was announced back in 2020. It's a survival shooter set in post-apocalyptic Chernobyl where players fight various hazardous elements, mutated monsters and human factions.
Stalker 2 was supposed to launch in 2021 but the game was delayed several times since then due to the war in Ukraine. The developers had to relocate to Prague to continue working on the game, which is now in the final stages of development.
