Hideo Kojima has finally pulled back the curtain on his mysterious Xbox exclusive, revealing the first in-engine teaser for what's now officially titled OD: Knock.
The photorealistic trailer showcases the game running on Unreal Engine 5, with incredible lighting and atmosphere, while also providing just a tiny hint at the ritualistic/supernatural horror story.
A Return to Horror Roots
The teaser trailer immediately evokes memories of Kojima's cancelled P.T. project, delivering spine-chilling atmosphere reminiscent of classic Resident Evil titles. Actress Sophia Lillis features prominently in the footage, which demonstrates the incredible visual fidelity possible with current-generation hardware and Microsoft's technical backing.
The photorealistic presentation suggests Kojima Productions is leveraging every advantage of Unreal Engine 5's capabilities, from advanced lighting systems to detailed character models.
Microsoft is helping with the project
Xbox CEO Phil Spencer expressed enthusiasm for the project's development progress, stating: "Original IP is essential to our industry, so I'm thrilled that the development of OD is in full swing thanks to the talented team at Kojima Productions and their creative collaborators."
This represents a significant creative partnership between Microsoft and one of gaming's most visionary developers. The collaboration appears focused not just on funding but actively supporting the technical ambitions that could define next-generation horror gaming.
What We Still Don't Know
While OD: Knock now has an official title and stunning visuals to showcase, key details like release timing and specific gameplay mechanics remain under wraps. However, this first substantial look suggests Kojima's horror vision is taking impressive shape.
