Gotham Knights will introduce a limited four-player co-op on November 29, 2022, WB Games Montreal announced today.
We say limited because the mode is restricted to a new Heroic Assault mode. Basically, you get to play only this mode with up to three friends and no, you won't be able to take on the campaign with your squad.
Though, we have to mention that the game's story mode is playable in a two-player, online co-op. But sadly, there is no cross-play so you and your pal need to be on the same platform.
Heroic Assault is described as a new game mode that is separate from the main story campaign. It's standalone and supports up to four players in online co-op and provides a dedicated arena-like environment with specific objectives to complete and enemies to defeat on each of the 30 floors.
While it's always good news when players are getting content free of charge, I'm still somewhat disappointed that Gotham Knight's campaign is not playable in four-player co-op. But of course, understand that pulling off such a feature in a large open world is very hard for the devs.
The new Heroic Assault mode is still better than nothing and I'll definitely give it a go with my squad. Just kidding, I have no squad and will try and matchmake with similar people who also don't have friends.
Gotham Knights is officially launching on October 21, 2022, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
