Counterplay Games and Gearbox are locked and loaded for the launch of their upcoming action-RPG Godfall, which actually starts rolling out in New Zealand first.
We're talking about a simultaneous launch via Epic Games Store on PC, and on PlayStation 5, starting at midnight local time from November 12 to November 19, 2020. Naturally, it depends on where you are and the console's launch timing, so have a look at the map and make a mental Godfall note.
Note that Godfall is exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Epic Games Store for a limited time, 6 months to be exact, after which it will launch on Xbox Series X.
Touted as looter slasher for its reliance on blades, polearms and war hammers, Godfall players will be ploughing their way through five Elemental Realms. Each is themed in accordance with its element, and there's no doubt Counterplay weaved some real magic here.
The goal is, of course, to prevent the end of days by defeating the big bad boss Macros, which you can do by yourself in singleplayer or with up 3 other players in co-op. In terms of gameplay, Godfall follows the looter-shooter formula, with special care taken in designing a semi-randomised loot drop system that feels rewarding while retaining the thrill of them random drops.
Counterplay stressed that they don't consider Godfall to be a game-as-service, and there will be no microtransactions or anything of the sort. That said, there will be a healthy amount of replayable content and the dev is planning for a ton of content down the line, although you may want to focus on that once you've done away with Macros.
