The next God of War game from SIE Santa Monica will be launching in the next year or so, said Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Jim Ryan in the latest interview.
Big PlayStation exclusive God of War: Ragnarok has been officially announced last year with a logo reveal and 2021 release window. Of course, no one actually believed in the latter, which turned out to be a the most logical way of thinking.
Sony decided to delay the game to 2022 while also confirming that the PlayStation 4 version is also in development.
And while many PlayStation fans expect to see the game in early 2022, God of War: Ragnarok may not launch that soon.
According to Jim Ryan, the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, the next God of War game will be coming in the next year or so.
"In the next year or so, the games from our studios will include Horizon Forbidden West, and then we have a new game of God of War," Ryan said in the interview with TMTPost.
Ryan's response is seemingly suggesting that God of War: Ragnarok might not be ready to launch until Summer/Autumn of 2022, which is certainly a much longer wait that PlayStation fans expected when the game was initially revealed.
And while this will come as a disappointment to some, we don't see it that way. The developers should take all the time they need to make this a true masterpiece. It may take some time before we play it, though, but a delayed game is eventually good, while the rushed one is bad forever, as Nintendo director Shigeru Miyamoto once said.
