Actor Christopher Judge, who plays Kratos from God of War, one of the most popular characters on PlayStation, asked fans to be nicer to each other and avoid starting fights over consoles.
Christopher Judge won the award for Best Performance for a Leading Role in Video Games at the BAFTA Awards yesterday. He has already won several awards and given several speeches for his role as Kratos in God of War: Ragnarök , including one that required him to be pulled off the stage during his speech on The Game Awards.
His speech from yesterday, however, was not so long that BAFTA security had to intervene, so he rather used his stage time to send a powerful message, first to God of War fans and then to video game fans in general, appealing to gamers to put aside the debate over which console is superior.
"Be nicer to one another, you have more in common than you think. No matter what platform you prefer, no matter what game you prefer, you are part of the same gaming community and should treat others with respect," said Judge.
After the market's balance of power was established, the problem of toxic console wars subsided in previous years. However, with the introduction of new generations of consoles, tribalistic debates resurfaced, with one side defending itself by slandering the other.
