So God of War is big, what else is new, right? Well, this is a new type of big. Sony revealed that Kratos' new gig by Cory Barlog and Co has become the fastest selling PlayStation 4 exclusive ever, with 3.1 million units sold in three days.
Now, selling 3.1 million is definitely a welcome addition to Sony's trophy cabinet but let's see how others compare. Everyone's sweetheart Horizon: Zero Dawn seems to be the first logical comparison but I hate to disappoint you - Aloy isn't even in second place.
Coming in second is Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Naughty Dog's blockbuster from 2016. It sold 2.7 million copies over its first week on the shelves, but God of War sort of makes it look bad now.
Horizon: Zero Dawn sold 2.6 million but we're looking at two weeks worth of sales. Aloy's ordeals did go on to in one year since it launched, which is still a great result.
Sony said that they knew God of War will be "something truly special" since the moment they've started showing it off. They company say they've been "humbled" with positive reviews by fans and reviewers alike.
Head of the Santa Monica Studio Shannon Studstill said, "I would like to personally thank the millions of fans around the world who decided to embark on Kratos’ latest adventure with us. Your support is truly inspiring, and it’s a reason why we push ourselves every day to go beyond the boundaries of play."
It's hard to imagine that just a few weeks back, Cory Barlog was still worried and stressed out of his mind over God of War reviews. At the time, he shed but it turns out he shouldn't have - God of War simply killed.

So, there you have it - God of War is more than just leaving a mark in PlayStation 4's history - it's leaving handprints all over it. Can the next one even think about trying to top what the Dad of War achieved? Only one way to find out.
