Of course, Sony couldn't have passed up the chance to inform the world and dog of God of War becoming the fastest selling PlayStation 4 exclusive . Now however, we're talking about all-time PlayStation heavyweights, the toughest of which is, or should we say was, The Last of Us, Naughty Dog's PlayStation 3 exclusive from 2013.
Beancounters at NPD Group claim that God of War has managed a three month period of impressive sales, which is easily the fastest on Sony's platform since 1995, when NPD started tracking sales. To be fair, it was only a matter of time before a record from 2013 has been dealt with but then again, nobody did it before Cory and Co.
NPD Group's Mat Piscatella said that his current projections put God of War as the eighth best selling game of 2018, although that could easily change, In fact, Piscatella added, "a few more months of performance like this and I may have to raise those expectations".
Thankfully for Sony, God of War's extraordinary success has brushed off on hardware sales and the company acknowledged it in their latest financial report. "[Sony] upwardly revised PS4 software sales to reflect the fact that our first-party title God of War and other third-party titles are significantly exceeding expectations", the report states.
Earlier on, God of War beat another Naughty Dog title, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which is no small feat. Uncharted managed to flog 2.7 million copies in two weeks on the shelves, while Kratos sols 3.1 million. In comparison, Horizon: Zero Dawn sold only 2.6 million copies.

Well, seeing as how SIE have managed to depose Naughty Dog on both of their earlier records, we guess it's time for the latter to strike back. Could outdo that magnificent beard?
