Sony have announced that their samurai action-adventure Ghost of Tsushima has sold 2.4 million copies in its first three days, which means Sucker Punch Productions' title is the fastest-selling first-party new IP of the PS4 generation.
Ghost of Tsushima is a massive success for Sony and the developer Sucker Punch Productions both critically and commercially. Today, the Japanese tech giant Sony have officially revealed that samurai action-adventure Ghost of Tsushima is the fastest-selling first-party new IP of the PlayStation 4 era.
Sucker Punch Productions' title has sold 2.4 million copies in its first three days, beating other Sony first part title Horizon: Zero Dawn (2.6 million) in the process. Here's Sony's official announcement:
"Ghost of Tsushima is now PS4's fastest-selling first-party original IP debut with more than 2.4 million units sold through globally in its first 3 days of sales. Congratulations Sucker Punch Prod, and thank you to fans around the world for taking part in Jin's journey."
Along with The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima will almost certainly be Sony's major contender for the game of the year. Though both games will probably face strong competition from CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077.
Ghost of Tsushima is available now on PlayStation 4.
