Sucker Punch and Sony have announced Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a free update for all owners of the base game. The update includes co-op multiplayer mode inspired by Japanese mythology.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is a free co-op multiplayer mode for all owners of the base game and it is set to launch on PlayStation 4 later this year. In the announcement post, Sucker Punch and Sony say that Legends is a brand new experience, a separate mode that does not follow the main protagonist Jin or other characters from his journey.

Instead, Legends will focus on four warriors who have been built up as legends in Japanese mythology. "Legends is haunting and fantastical, with locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology and an emphasis on cooperative combat and action," it's written in the post.

Legends offer four classes - the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin and Assassin. As expected, each character class has unique advantages and abilities but sadly, Sucker Punch are not ready to reveal these just yet.

The mode supports online matchmaking and up to four players, who will be able to play a series of co-op story missions. There are also wave-based Survival missions, where you get to fight the toughest enemies in Tsushima but also some brand new supernatural additions.

Those who complete these missions get to take on the four-player Raid, which will release shortly after Legends launch later this year.
