Yaoyao is one of the most anticipated characters in Genshin Impact and her absence from the last couple of updates generated even more hype around this Dendro character.
There is a total of seven different elements in Genshin Impact, all of which are attached to the game's character, except one. We are yet to see a playable Dendro element user in the world of Teyvat.
According to an interesting leak on the Genshin_Impact_Leaks subreddit, we might finally get our first Dendro character - Yaoyao. However, the leak states that she will arrive alongside a new region Chasm with update 2.4. This means that we will have to wait till around mid-January to see if these leaks are true.
So far the only elemental reaction that includes Dendro is Burning. The grass is considered a Dendro object and will spread the burn effect around the area. The fact that this element only interacts with Pyro might be one of the reasons why we haven't seen a Dendro character yet. It would surely require a major change to the elemental reaction fighting mechanics of the game.
However, back in November a couple of leaks hinted that there is already at least one Dendro character in the making. According to a credible Genshin Impact leaker called Zeniet, Yaoyao was already in development back then.
Looking at her model it's safe to say that she will be a catalyst weapon user which generally means that she will be able to apply Dendro elements through her normal attacks
