Genshin Impact by HoYoverse has always been interesting because of its distinctive cast of characters and intriguing open-world adventure. At first, there were only Mondstadt and Liyue in the game. But since then, every year has brought Genshin Impact players a new area of Teyvat to explore, along with a steady stream of characters from that area and a few surprises.
After a long hiatus, the most recent leaks on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit revolve around the Natlan character Xbalanque. As the second half of Genshin Impact's Fontaine upgrades approaches, fresh information regarding Xbalanque has been confirmed due to leaks.
What do the leaks reveal about Xbalanque?
Natlan in Genshin Impact is said to be influenced by Latin American, Mesoamerican, and West African cultures, both colonial and pre-colonial.
While there is no current concept art of Xbalanque available, previous leaks have depicted Xbalanque as a darker-skinned Bennett, which aligns well with the most recent details.
Given the inspiration for his name, it's a reasonable assumption that Xbalanque will probably be a character focused on fire, possibly even the Pyro Sovereign himself.
As a Pyro Polearm wielder, Arlecchino in Genshin Impact is anticipated to be an on-field character specializing in Overload reactions. However, there are numerous untapped potentials of the Pyro element that Xbalanque could explore.
Apart from Xiangling and, to a lesser degree, Thoma and Dehya, there are limited off-field Pyro options for team composition. Introducing an alternative to Xiangling could diversify Spiral Abyss setups, akin to the role-sharing dynamics seen with Xingqiu and Yelan within the same team.
While it may take some time for players to officially meet Xbalanque, the upcoming Version 4.5 release on March 12, 2024, hints that the nation of Natlan is not far off. So for the time being, all we can do is wait for the official confirmation.
