The official Genshin Impact social media accounts have finally posted about the long-awaited Pyro polearm user Thoma. He has already made an appearance during the Genshin Impact 2.0 update events.
The addition of a new character is probably the most exciting thing a casual Genshin Impact player is looking forward to, especially in the latter stages of the game when there aren't as many quests and events to enjoy.
miHoYo has already announced a couple of new characters on their official social media accounts. Those characters include Raiden Shogun, Kokomi, Kojou Sara and Aloy. All of these characters are expected to come in the foreseeable future. Raiden Shogun and Kokomi are expected to appear as the main five-star characters in the upcoming update 2.1.
The official Genshin Impact Twitter account has finally revealed one of the upcoming characters we will most likely see in one of the future updates - the Pyro polearm user, Thoma.
Recent leaks have revealed a bunch of interesting characters like Gorou, Tohma, Yae Miko and others. Even though we have no official confirmation, the majority of leaks claim that he's going to be a Pyro character. Also, the overall theme of his design strongly hints towards a Pyro character.
He will most likely not make it into patch 2.1 since there wasn't any mention by miHoYo in their recent Version 2.1 preview. Tohma could be released on update 2.2 which will arrive around October 15.
According to the leaks, Tohma is a Polearm user which would make him the third Pyro character that uses the same weapon. He's expected to be a weaker, four-star version of Hu Tao. This could still be changed considering that characters like Albedo (sword) were rumoured to be bow users.
There is no official information, nor credible leaks revealing Tohma's rarity. Many players are speculating that he could become a slightly weaker, four-star version of Hu Tao. Even if those rumours were true, miHoYo could still mix things up considering that he's one of, if not the most popular upcoming character.
