Epic Games have released the full patch notes for Fortnite's Season 9 update, which is now being implemented on all platforms. Season 9 adds a new way of transportation called Slipstream and a brand new weapon called Combat Shotgun.
Fortnite Season 8 has officially arrived and while the game is down for the implementation of the new update, Epic Games released the full patch notes which reveal what exactly can players expect from the new Season.
The two most notable additions are Slipstream and Combat Shogun. The former is a brand new transportation method around the map. These are basically wind tunnels that carry players over the map but you can also send projectiles and vehicles through them. Another similar addition is Air Vents. These can launch players short distances and grant immunity to fall damage with powerful gusts of air.
As for the new shotgun, it's a semi-automatic weapon that holds 10 shells. It deals 73 / 77 / 81 base damage per shot, has tight spread and fast fire rate. Headshot multiplier is set at 1.70x and it reloads 2 shells at a time. You can find it in Rare, Epic and Legendary variants from Floor, Chests, Supply Drops and Vending Machines.
Update v9.00 also introduces Fortbytes. These are a series of 100 collectable computer chips available to those who own Battle Pass. As you collect them, you'll decrypt a mysterious image and collecting them all will unlock rewards and uncover the secrets of Season 9.
On Season 9 launch, only 18 Fortbytes will be available and at least one new Fortbyte will be unlocked each day. Once Season 9 ends, you won't be able to collect Fortbytes.
Additionally, there are plenty of items that Epic decided to vault with the latest update. Clingers, Buried Treasure, Pump Shotgun, Poison Dart Trap, Scoped Revolver, Suppressed Assault Rifle and Thermal Assault Rifle are no longer available while Grenades have been unvaulted.
