Gabe Amatangelo, who previously worked on MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic as a PvP designer and Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC as design director is working as a creative director on Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer title.
If you are one of those players who cannot wait for Cyberpunk 2077, you are probably aware of the fact that CD Projekt Red have big plans for the game's multiplayer component. The publisher already confirmed that after the release of the single-player game, they have plans to release several DLCs and a full-fledged Cyberpunk multiplayer game.
However, not a lot has been said about the multiplayer since CDPR are focusing solely on Cyberpunk 2077 single-player but we know that CD Projekt Red Wroclaw are helming the project. Today, we also learned that the game's creative director is former Bioware dev Gabe Amatangelo, who worked on games such as Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dragon Age: Inquisition and cancelled asymmetrical multiplayer game Breach.
Prior to his appointment as Creative Director at CD Projekt Red Wroclaw, Amatangelo worked as a consultant for CCP, who brought us MMO Eve Online. Here are Amatangelo's game credits (courtesy of Moby games ):
- Dragon Age: Inquisition - Jaws of Hakkon (2015) (Design Director)
- Star Wars: The Old Republic - Galactic Starfighter (2013) (Additional Design)
- Star Wars: The Old Republic - Rise of the Hutt Cartel (2013) (Lead Designer)
- Star Wars: The Old Republic (2011) (Lead PvP and Flashpoint Designer)
All in all, we hope that Amatangelo and the team of the developers will be successful in their task to bring us a unique and fun multiplayer experience, set in the gorgeous Night City. It's a darn shame that we don't have more details about the project at this time but we don't have any doubts that it will turn out great.
It is worth noting though, that CD Projekt Red plan to introduce "fair" microtransactions in Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer.
Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer still does not have a release date but it should arrive sometime in 2022 to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
