After more than three years in Early Access, Farthest Frontier is finally ready for its full launch. Crate Entertainment has confirmed that version 1.0 will arrive on October 23, 2025, on PC, bringing a slate of exciting new content and improvements to the medieval city-building sim.
During its Early Access run, the game earned a consistent Very Positive rating on Steam, sold over 1.2 million copies, and racked up more than 1.6 million wishlists. Now, the full release will expand Farthest Frontier into what Crate calls “the most comprehensive farming and town management sim available.”
The 1.0 update introduces a 142-point Tech Tree, dozens of new buildings, bridges, an all-new Policy System, updated animations, and many other refinements. Together, these changes aim to give players even more freedom to shape their medieval settlements.
Arthur Bruno, CEO and Creative Director at Crate Entertainment, described the project as a personal dream come true:
“Farthest Frontier started out as sort of a self-indulgent passion project, to take a break from ARPGs and make the kind of town-builder game I’d dreamed of making in college, when I was playing games like Settlers 2, Caesar 3 and Ultimate Domain,” Bruno said. “It’s been a huge challenge, especially since we’ve never had more than 8 people on it at a time, but Farthest Frontier turned out bigger and better than I had imagined, and I am incredibly proud of the team and what we’ve built.”
At its core, Farthest Frontier challenges players to forge a town on the edge of the known world. Survival requires harvesting resources, farming with unprecedented depth (including soil fertility and seasonal crop rotation), and managing a fully simulated economy where villagers physically carry items across town. Players can defend their growing communities with walls, armies, and siege weapons, or switch to Pacifist Mode to focus purely on building.
The game’s 1.0 release will be priced at $34.99, reflecting its expanded scope. Existing owners will not be affected, and the Early Access price of $29.99 will remain until the Steam Autumn Sale, starting September 29, offering a final chance to buy at the lower price.
