Borderlands 4 has already been a smashing success, shipping over 2.5 million copies in its first month. A buggy PC release and some controversies surrounding Gearbox’ Randy Pitchford have marred its performance, but now players have a reason to come back for more.
The first Story Pack DLC for the game has been announced, and it brings a new Vault Hunter to the chaotic looter shooter, new story missions, and loads of high-rarity gear. The DLC is set to release in early 2026, and it will be the first in what is sure to be a long line of post-launch content for Borderlands 4.
This will expand on the existing game, introducing more playable characters, locales, and loot. Super Deluxe Edition buyers will have immediate access, though the DLC will also be available for separate purchase.
First Borderlands 4 DLC Release Date Window
It was recently revealed that the first Story Pack DLC for Borderlands 4 is set to launch during Q1 2026, between January and March. It was noted that the release for the “Vault Hunter” will come “together with new story content Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned.”
New Vault Hunter: Meet C4SH
In addition to some new story content, new Loot, and Gear, a headline addition to the current roster is C4SH, a bot who worked as a casino dealer before her current existence in the wastelands.
Having developed a “personality that is both slyly charismatic and recklessly ambitious,” it was detailed that the Vault Hunter will make her debut as a lovable “garbage talker with some thematic Abilities and a skill set that is all her own.”
Expect a mixture of probability-bending, themed Abilities, and Equipment that’s custom made for this “new drifter.”
Loot and Gear Additions
One of the biggest points of interest for many Borderlands fans is the set return of Pearlescent-rarity gear, coming to Borderlands 4 sometime in early 2026. It is perhaps notable that Pearlescents have a reputation of being some of the rarest and strongest loot in the series.
Free Content Updates for All Players
In an announcement made alongside the Story Pack’s official reveal, it was detailed that Gearbox will provide a “variety of Free updates” to all players on a regular basis.
This means that Seasonal Mini-Events, Invincible Bosses, and other updates and DLC will arrive for Borderlands 4, regardless of whether or not players have purchased Story Pack DLCs.
