Flying Wild Hog, the studio responsible for somewhat unusual FPS games in the past, has announced another project, set in a supernatural version of Wild West.
Evil West was presented at The Game Awards 2020 and is pretty much one of the games no one expected or saw coming. One reason for this is that Flying Wild Hog studio is working on Shadow Warrior 3 so one would think all their efforts are going that way but judging by the planned release window of 2021, it's highly possible this game is deep into development and has been in the works for a while.
Players will assume the role of one of the last agents of a clandestine institute in the Wild West era, bent on hunting the vampires and other supernatural creatures that threaten mankind. The institute's name is either Rentier or Renier Institute, based on one of the screenshots available on Steam but it's somewhat dubious due to the cross that may or may not be doubling down as a "t" on the agent's knuckle weapon.
The trailer below shows off a chunk of the protagonist's arsenal as he ploughs through the hordes of evil using various weapons and gadgets. Besides the Wild West classics, such as the repeater and revolver, he is seen using a gauntlet that is apparently fueled by lightning and has retractable claws, the aforementioned brass knuckle form and potential to unleash stored electricity. All of these will apparently be upgradeable.
One interesting part is that the game will feature co-op with one other player so it's possible we will see more than just one agent in action. The game will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
