Epic Games have finally admitted that their Impostors mode for Fortnite was inspired by Innersloth's popular title Among Us.
When Epic Games officially announced Fortnite Impostors, many players pointed out that the map and the gameplay are very similar, if not identical to Innersloth's mega-popular title Among Us. Innersloth devs even openly accused Epic Games of copying their game but Epic did not comment on the matter, until now.
In the patch notes for Fortnite's latest update v18.20 , Epic Games confirmed that their Impostors mode is indeed inspired by Among Us. "v18.20 brings improvements to Impostors, the game mode inspired by Among Us from Innersloth," it's written in the patch notes.
This is, of course, far from an apology but at least they're not staying quiet and have openly admitted that the mode is inspired by Among Us. We would not say that Epic were only inspired by the game - they straight copied Among Us concept, which is why Innersloth devs were mad in the first place.
You probably recall that Epic Games were once sued by PUBG creators for a similar matter. PUBG Corp. claimed that Fortnite copies many aspects of their game including the design of the weapons, the UI and some gameplay features.
So yeah, it's not the first time that Epic Games are in the spotlight for copying other games.
