Capcom is heavily altering Dragon’ s Dogma 2 two years after launch. Publisher Capcom has confirmed that Dragon’ s Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition and a slew of optional microtransactions will be removed from storefronts permanently on June 25 at midnight UTC.
Capcom’ s latest announcement comes right after the company officially detailed Dragon’ s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a major expansion set to release later this year. Paired with recent quality-of-life improvements, it seems like Capcom wants to polish up Dragon’ s Dogma 2 for both veteran players and newcomers alike
.For starters, players will no longer be able to purchase Rift Crystals, Wakestones, Portcrystals, Makeshift Gaol Keys, Ambivalent Rift Incenses, Heartfelt Pendants, Harpysnare Smoke Beacons, or the “ A Boon for Adventurers ” pack.
All of these items have been available to buy since Dragon’ s Dogma 2 launched two years ago.The Dragon’ s Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition will be removed from digital storefronts on all current platforms. Considering how many bonuses are shared with the standalone microtransactions, pruning both means newer players will see a much streamlined menu of purchases.
Capcom is also permanently discounting Dragon’ s Dogma 2 . Pricing will vary by region and platform, but Capcom is following a familiar playbook it used to successful effect on games like Street Fighter 6.
Reducing the price of Dragon’ s Dogma 2 right now makes plenty of sense. By driving down the entry cost and streamlining its available editions, Capcom can court new players in the months leading up to Dragon’ s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen on October 9 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
