Several months after launch, Diablo 4 will finally be adding ray-tracing sometime in March 2024. The new update was announced today during Nvidia's CES 2024 keynote.
Nvidia revealed that Diablo 4 will be getting ray-traced reflections and ray-traced shadows and shared some new gameplay that showcases the new features in action.
At the moment, there is no exact release date for this update but Blizzard will probably talk more about this particular subject in the coming month, as we get closer to launch.
Below you can check out the comparison between ray-traced reflections turned on and off. Notice how the reflection of the spirits is much clearer in the second image while the scythe and full body of the main hero are also reflected in the water in a much higher resolution.
Diablo 4 ray-tracing comparison
It will be interesting to see how well Diablo 4 runs with ray-tracing ON. The trailer did show frame rate in the high 100s with DLSS but since this is an official marketing material from Nvidia, don't take it as set in stone as the GPU manufacturer loves to include the best-case scenario numbers in these reveals.
