It's been quite a few days for Xbox fans thanks to several rumours surfacing online, courtesy of insider Nate the Hate. One of the interesting claims made by this reliable source is that Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is being internally reviewed at Xbox and is receiving great scores.
The insider states that the internal mock reviews are in the low 90s, which is certainly amazing news for all players who are anticipating this immersive action adventure.
"Last year I heard that the internal metacritic scores that Microsoft had for the game was in the 90s," the insider said. "That would be their highest Metacritic game since Gears 3."
But what exactly are these mock reviews and are they representative of the actual reviews we'll get when the game launches sometime this year?
Well, Xbox, just like PlayStation and other publishers, have their own internal team that reviews their games objectively and recommends improvements or points out issues that are preventing the game from scoring higher.
This review process is done when the game is fully playable from start to finish or closer to launch so Xbox's internal team of reviewers have a similar experience to press and influencers who get review keys ahead of release.
Obviously, until we get the actual reviews, you should keep your expectations in check since the internal reviews for Redfall we're around the 70s but the game ended up having a Metascore of 58, which was certainly disappointing for Bethesda and Xbox.
We're not saying that Hellblade 2 will end up being a flop for Xbox as the game really looks great and Ninja Theory knocked it out of the park with the first one, but always wait for the actual launch and reviews before deciding to spend your hard-earned money on games.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2024. The game will also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
