Destiny 2's development team decided to throw its own Valentine’s Day themed event dubbed the Crimson Days, starting Tuesday, 13 February, 2018. While there are certainly some teamwork oriented goodies here, it strikes us as incredibly ironic to preach a holiday of love to people looking to 'shoot mans'.

The week-long event is built around a 2v2 Crucible playlist but Bungie is bringing back a fan favourite from Destiny - the Burning Shrine. In this iteration it's dubbed the Burnout and is set in a future where the Vex have “installed freedom” in our reality, USA style.

Bungie claims the Crimson Days will “test your bonds to the breaking point”, with the back story being the sun going dark and the only available Light coming from sticking close to your partners. This way, you’ll be forced to enter a relationship, even if Bungie has to choose for you. Heck, I reckon in my case, Bungie would've probably had more success finding a match.

The easiest way to rewards has been described as competing in Crucible playlist, with devs focusing on fun single character play. Most rewards will be found inside new Crimson Engrams, featuring a duplicate-preventing mechanism that will ensure you get all the good stuff first. Players can dismantle Crimson Engram reward items into Bright Dust and use it to purchase other Crimson Engram contents, with the same anti-duplicate mechanism.

Levelling up during Crimson Days will earn players an Illuminated and Crimson Engram each. Apparently, Crimson Engrams are not capped but you can only earn them through gameplay. Players will need to reach level caps to qualify, which for Expansion 1 owners is 25 and 20 for those without it.

Bungie also has five new rewards for completing the “Welcome to Crimson Days” milestone, matches in the Crimson Days Crucible playlist, Leviathan Raid or the Raid Lair: Eater of Worlds and the Nightfall Strike. The event officially ends at 9am PST on Tuesday, 20 February, 2018. You can find out more in the .
