Capcom could be considering a reboot of the popular zombie-slaying title Dead Rising, seven years after releasing the last game in the series - Dead Rising 4 - according to industry insider Jez Corden.
Beloved zombie action-adventure franchise Dead Rising could be rising from the dead according to the latest, vague rumours. Reliable industry journalist Jez Corden has revealed on Twitter that he heard the "vaguest of rumours" regarding the return of Dead Rising with Capcom involved.
Unfortunately for Xbox fans, it doesn't look like Microsoft will have anything to do with the project as it's all Capcom this time around. If there is a Dead Rising game coming, it would reportedly be a reboot of the franchise, not a continuation of the story, so expect some changes, potentially a new protagonist and a setting.
Other than that, there are no details about the new Dead Rising game. Whether or not we hear about it soon, it remains to be seen but fingers crossed there is something in the pipeline for the next couple of years.
The Dead Rising franchise has been shelved since 2016's Dead Rising 4 , which did not receive glowing reviews. Fans of the franchise have especially been critical of the game, calling it one of the weakest Dead Rising games in the series.
It will certainly be interesting to see a new Dead Rising game in today's day and age and whether it would be accepted by fans. One thing is for certain, though, the power of next-gen consoles would certainly allow for some brutal combat and realistic-looking zombies, as we've seen with the recent zombie action adventure Dead Island 2.
As always with rumours, we suggest you take the information with a grain of salt until we get an official confirmation from Capcom.
