Dauntless is getting ready for another major update, scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, 24 April 2019. Named Path of the Slayer, the new update will introduce a reworked progression system along with a new hunt structure, new map and quests.
Phoenix Labs, the developer behind free to play action RPG Dauntless have outlined the changes coming in the update named Path of the Slayer. The update is scheduled to release on 24 April 2019 and according to the latest preview from the devs, it will introduce a fresh batch of reworks and content among other things.
One of the biggest additions is certainly the complete rework of the progression system. According to the devs with the latest rework of quests and progression, Slayers will now get the info they need to start mastering skills early on.
The starter quests have been structured in a way to put rookies through the basics and the tutorial cards have been updated with new graphics and clearer instructions. The devs joke that with the new system, by the time you exit the Sheltered Frontier and start to consider your first real hunt you should know your axe from a pole in the ground.
Once the new update drops, all players will gain instant access to the new quest and progression system. Also, Behemoths and hunts you unlocked before the update will remain unlocked.
As for the new hunt types, the system of Patrols, Pursuits and Expeditions has been completely revised in Path of The Slayer. The devs removed Expeditions from the hunt board and brand new Elemental Patrols have been added instead. Pursuits have been reorganised so you can find Behemoths easier. You'll just have to pick an element in Pursuit and choose your prefered Behemoth.
The new map will also feature a hunt's threat level, meaning that you'll be able to see the recommended gear score for the hunt and target's strengths and weaknesses. You can choose to proceed with the hunt even if you don't meet the gear score.
