Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, CD Projekt Red's quest director for Cyberpunk 2077, recently spoke about the inspirations for the game, which included Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, the original Deus Ex and even The Elder Scrolls series.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games that are set to be released in near future, hopefully, in part due to CD Projekt Red pulling all the right moves regarding microtransactions and catering to consumers.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the team's quest director, seems to have said yet another right thing when interviewed by the Spanish gaming website,  .

Among other things, Tomaszkiewicz was asked about the games that inspired him when approaching the design of Cyberpunk 2077. In an answer that probably couldn't get any better for any RPG fan, he stated that Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines was one of the most influential titles in his design since it is "the perfect example of a first person RPG [Tomaszkiewicz] enjoyed."

Should Cyberpunk 2077 prove to just as non-linear, it will definitely be a huge treat for the fans but Tomaszkiewicz continued by saying Deus Ex's countless different approaches to quests, be it through dialogue or gameplay choices, caused it to be the other greatest inspiration for the upcoming game's design.

The third inspiration Tomaszkiewicz mentioned was The Elder Scrolls series but he didn't go in depth by explaining which elements he liked as it was too hard to compare the two games due to TES being in a fantasy setting.

Despite not having more insight on which TES elements the developers are going for, it is good to know CDPR are focusing on Deus Ex and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines traits, since these two games are hallmarks of RPG games.

Granted, the latter was troubled with a rushed launch and could serve as a major inspiration for Bethesda's festival of bugs but fans loved Bloodlines so much that they kept patching out the bugs to this day, 15 years after release.
