CD Projekt Red have already seen what happens when the final product falls short of promo material and they're not doing it again, as proven by latest comparisons.
We're talking about The Witcher 3, of course, and while the game's undeniable quality has ensured its longevity, not everyone forgot about the pretty hefty graphics downgrade when the end product was compared to the promo material.
This time, however, it looks like CD Projekt Red took a leaf out of Phil Spencer's book, when he said that it's best to underpromise and overdeliver than vice versa.
As you can see from the image below, which was posted on Reddit by user Cyber_Steve1, Cyberpunk 2077 looks far better on the 2020 shots than it did in 2018.
Impressively better, in fact, as the clarity and the amount of detail went up significantly, which is not what we're used to seeing. After all, most of us have learned by now not to take promo material at face value, and The Witcher 3 is far from the only source of this scepticism.
There are quite a few notable differences in the actual layout of stuff in Night City, like the advertisement boards and a few buildings here and there. That said, the lower image, which is a snapshot from 2018, looks hazy in comparison, for the lack of a better word.
We're living in a time of unprecedented scrutiny and it's not uncommon to have people outraged over graphics downgrades even when there weren't any. Yes, we're referring to the infamous Spider-Man Puddlegate , which had fans fuming over what they claimed was a clear downgrade.
