Just several days ago, Capcom treated us with wonderful news by announcing the next instalment in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil: Requiem. However, if you try to search online for the newest Resident Evil game, Requiem won't be the one. How, you might ask? That's because just a couple of hours ago, Capcom added a new Resident Evil title to their portfolio.
This new Resident Evil game is called Resident Evil: Survival Unit, and it isn't some expansion, mode, or anything of the sort; it is a full-fledged game set to be released for mobile platforms iPhone and Android.
All we know so far about Resident Evil: Survival Unit is that the game is developed by Joycity Corporation, a studio known for making RTS games, and you guessed it, this new mobile Resident Evil will be an RTS game as well.
On the official Resident Evil: Survival Unit site, you can see the countdown timer set until July 10, when the game will be officially announced through a trailer or at least a teaser because it says that the game will be announced on their official YouTube channel too.
Apart from that, the game's description says: survival horror strategy, which means more than one genre will be combined in this upcoming Resident Evil game.
One more curiosity is the very developer in charge of making the game, Joycity Corporation. This studio is known for Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War. Now, this game is a top-down RTS that heavily emphasises resource management. Will they try to replicate the formula on Resident Evil: Survival Unit, or will some tweaks have to be done? It remains to be seen.
In any case, for more details, we will have to wait for July 10, when the game will be officially announced. Until then, let's hope that this title will actually be able to transfer at least part of the Resident Evil atmosphere to our mobile devices.
