As unlikely as it may sound, it's real alright - Tencent's PUBG Mobile and Capcom's Resident Evil 2 are heading for a crossover event of some sort. Of course, it doesn't take a genius to know it will feature battle royale and zombies.

Resident Evil's Japanese Twitter page posted a video today showing a bunch of zombies heading for lunch in the usual zombie stagger tempo. Both logos are there  - PUBG Mobile's and Biohazard RE 2's, which is what the game is called in Japan.

The post reads, "PUBG MOBILE × Resident Evil RE: 2 collaboration is decided! What kind of innovative play can be produced by combining the world's most popular mobile games and survival horror's monument, two super IPs?"

Although the announcement is light on details, you can expect PUBG Mobile and Resident Evil 2 to stick at what they do best - battle royale and zombies. Basically, it's just a matter of how the event is going to be structured so PUBG Corp, Tencent, Capcom and whoever else is involved have a lot of creative options.

Of course, we're sure that many readers' first thought was 'why not do it with real PUBG?', but let's not pretend that the sad state the game is currently in justifies anything more than throwing a rock at it. Jokes aside, we're sure PUBG Corp are busy porting the game to PlayStation 4, with the launch for 07 December 2018.

PUBG Mobile, on the other hand, is living the dream, a living proof of the great work done by Tencent and Lightspeed & Quantum Studios. Ironically enough, the same day that PUBG Mobile hit saw PUBG dip below 1 million players on Steam.

In their defence, Brendan Greene's game is the first to have maintained more than concurrent players for a full year, which is quite the record. However, dropping below one million on the first day after breaking the record says enough of PUBG Corp and their efforts.

As for Capcom, their remake of the absolute classic and fan favourite Resident Evil 2 is drawing closer to its January 2019 launch, so they're warming up the PR machine. It's looking good too, as you can see from the recent PS4 Pro footage of , although elderly fans may want to know that many things have been changed from the original version.
