Activision recently revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Space Ops Survival mode will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 effectively until the next CoD title comes around.
Sony released another version of the story trailer previously seen for other platforms but this time with a PlayStation logo in the corner. It is not the logo that set off a firestorm in the community, however, but rather the end of the trailer itself.
The trailer itself was mostly the same as the other versions, except for the last section when the announcement for Special Ops Survival Mode happened, with a disclaimer written in tiny letters below. The tiny letters read "Timed Exclusive Content Until October 1. 2020". That is almost an entire year of exclusive content that has obviously been completed already and could be on PC and Xbox One as well.
As it stands, PC and Xbox One players will pay the same price for a game with one game mode less when compared to PS4 fans. This is not the first time Activision discriminated Xbox One and PC players but it was usually done in a form they could swallow and enjoy Call of Duty instalments regardless.
This time around, it's really different as these two groups of players will not get access to Spec Ops Survival until October 2020 which is literally a month or less away from the next Call of Duty game. PC and Xbox One players will get to enjoy the mode only briefly before shelling out another AAA amount of money, depending on which edition they choose.
To say fans are unhappy with the deal is an understatement. The picture below shows the first 13 posts in Modern Warfare subreddit at the time of writing with 12 of them being from people protesting the decision or announcing pre-order cancellations.
Only one of the 13 posts was not directly tied to that topic and it's the one made by moderators to discuss the story mode trailer. It's also filled with pre-order cancellation announcements, just like countless posts below the first 13.
