Call of Duty: Modern Warfare closed beta is almost here and Infinity Ward revealed several new details about the test, including the pre-load and open beta dates. On PlayStation 4 you can start pre-loading the beta client right now.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward have released a ton of details about the upcoming closed beta, which is scheduled to go live this week, exclusively on PlayStation 4.
The first two days of closed beta is available only to those who pre-ordered Modern Warfare on PlayStation 4 but the rest of the beta period will be free to all PlayStation 4 players. Here's a detailed look at the beta start dates on Sony's console:
- Early Access: Thursday, 12 September and Friday, 13 September 2019.
- Free beta: Saturday, 14 September to the morning of Monday, 16 September 2019.
As for the content and multiplayer modes that you'll get to play during the beta test, well, Infinity Ward didn't go into detail but they promise "an epic and ever-changing series of Maps, Playlists and other content drops" throughout the beta weekends with additional surprises.
The closed beta will also be available to PC and Xbox One players. Just like on PS4, the PC and Xbox One beta will first be available to those who pre-ordered the game and later to everyone. Here's when you can access it:
Second beta weekend
- Early Access: Thursday, 19 September and running to the morning of Friday, 20 September 2019.
- Free beta: Saturday, 21 September 2019, to the morning of Monday, 23 September 2019

The second beta test will also feature crossplay so you'll get to test your skills against players from other platforms.
