With Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale mode called Blackout fast approaching its September 2018 beta, Treyarch rolled out a trailer that does a good job teasing all the upcoming features of Call of Duty's first taste of the genre.

Much has been said about whether there was even a need for Call of Duty to go into battle royale waters, with the genre supposedly being milked dry by Fortnite and PUBG, not to mention the rest of the BR gang. I was personally quite sceptical of the idea but as I learn more, it seems like Treyarch will actually be shaking the genre up, in a good way.

Firstly, Blackout's map is actually the biggest Call of Duty map ever and it has 13 distinct locations. The names are pretty self explanatory and you can actually locate almost each of the locations in the trailer, not just the obvious ones like Nuketown Island.

You probably already know that Blackout will feature 80 players in the beginning, although it's not final. Apparently, Treyarch want to gauge the match dynamics before they commit to actual numbers and I'd agree with them on this. I mean, fun over figures, right?

Treyarch already revealed a few of the perks we'll be seeing in Blackout like Iron Lungs, for holding your breath, and Dead Silence, for making you ninja-like. There's also Outlander, which grants you speed and decreases damage when outside the circle and Looter, which grants you x-ray vision for valuables.

Paranoia alerts you when you're being aimed; Stimulant boosts your health by 100 points; Skulker lets you move faster in crouch or prone position while Consumer lets you heal faster. And apparently, there will be more.

All in all, Blackout is shaping to be much more interesting than initially thought and let's face it - the genre desperately needed it. It seems that the analysts were right on the money though - Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale mode will indeed be .
