If you've had a go at Apex Legends, chances are that the Pathfinder reminded you either of Overwatch's Bastion or Chappie, Neill Blomkamp's much-maligned robot sweetheart, and it seems that the latter will be heading to Apex Legends soon.
Thankfully, one user took it a step further and actually asked Blomkamp whether there's any chance of Chappie ending up in Apex Legends. "Lotta people asking me this. I am down yes", he wrote.
To make matters even better, Respawn Entertainment's Vince Zampella saw his tweet and responded by saying, "I am also down", so we may actually end up seeing our beloved Chappie in our beloved Apex Legends.
Now you probably have your own opinions on whether Chappie was good or up to Blomkamp's standards, but since yours truly is the one writing this, I do believe we can all find middle ground and agree that it was awesome, on the grounds of because I said so.
Jokes aside, even if you didn't like Chappie that much, you can't deny he'd be a perfect match with Apex Legends. Heck, he'd fit in like a glove, and it could be as simple as making a skin and recording some voiceovers.
That being said, we doubt that a mere reskin job would've piqued Blomkamp and Zampella's interests, regardless of monetary gain. Of course, this is just wishful thinking at the moment, but a full-fledged Chappie Legend would be great, even though we'd settle for a limited time mode or something.
Coincidentally, Blomkamp has just finished working on Anthem's short-movie-turned-trailer , so it's not a bad idea to make him stick around for a bit, or forever if at all possible. His recent interest in gaming makes us hopeful that he could exchange the director's chair for a game director's seat, as we're obviously big fans.
So there you have it, both Blomkamp and Zampella are interested in bringing Chappie to Apex Legends, so let's see whether they make it happen. Imagining the two in the same room, however, is a mouth-watering prospect that has the potential for so much more, so we'll just be silently hoping. Well...hoping.
